FIRST ROAD TRIP!!!
Hey friends,
Its been a while, since my last post as I was road tripping with my daughter, after she had fully recovered from cold and cough.
Yes, the common cough and cold , generally happens to most infants in the 5th month as the mothers milk, stops producing antibodies and starts pumping more of fat and DHA for brain development. If you are experiencing the same right now, then along with the medicines prescribed by your doctor, have a nasal spray and aspirator handy.
Well, all that is in the past now. My daughter is almost 6 months old, and we took our first road trip together. We went to visit my husband's grand parents home and it was a 5 hour drive from where we stay.
The best part about our plan was to leave early morning around 5.30am. Once I was up, in half blind mode, with minimal lighting I decided to get dressed as my daughter was asleep. Somehow, she sensed the excitement and was up within minutes. She was very happy, and out of the blue started laughing. I had no idea she could be this happy.
I also have a car seat and trust me, if you have a provision to install a car seat in your car, do get one. She had lot of fun listening to music, watching birds, trees, moving vehicles.
I had carried a musical toy also, so when she was up and bored with the sight seeing, she would play with her toy. Also, if you are wondering about how your baby will sleep in the car seat, then let me tell you, she did nap in her seat for almost 3 hours!!
We did take a break for 45 minutes, at a highway restaurant where I had my favorite idli and dosa breakfast. Then of course, cleaning and feeding. It is convenient to breast feed, during poll stops or at traffic signal red stop as once your baby is latched, it will continue to feed in the moving car.
PRO TIPS:
1) Morning journeys are always better. Try to reach your destination before sunset.
2) Car her favorite toys, rattle along and keep it handy.
3) Car seat is a must.
4) Extra pair of clothes, mosquito patch, mosquito net, cap, mittens and socks are all essential items to pack, along with the diaper bag.
During our stay, we visited some beautiful organically grown vegetables and fruits farm, a mall, beautiful temples and spent lot of time smiling at the great grand parents.
HAPPY JOURNEY to all road trip enthusiast.
Bye and take care.

P.S: During our stay, her mosquito net broke and she was bitten on her hands and face. I applied aloe gel for immediate relief and it worked. There was no itching and the marks also disappeared eventually.
