Infant photo shoot!!
Hellooo Sweethearts,
I hope you all are having a lovely day.
I am writing this blog, to encourage new mom's to get out there and have cute baby pictures taken 😍. Trust me it's all worth it.
While I was pregnant , I would follow all the cute baby pages on Instagram and Pinterest and would dream of having such beautiful ❤️ pictures taken of my new born.
What I missed from all those blogs is the preparation and hard work that goes behind the curtain.
Obviously getting your new born ready to experience something new from his usual cozy environment , which will eventually be the most cherished memory is not an easy task.
I hope reading this blog give you little tips on how to go about it will be useful when you actually get to that stage.
Some important factors to consider are:
Time frame:
My daughter was less than 2 months old when I decided to get her shoot done. We drove her to the studio during her nap time. Since she was very little we got beautiful family shots, in which she was sleeping peacefully. This time period where the infant movements are restricted works best to take creative photos, as it is easy to dress them and adjust them while they sleep. I had to take feeding break between the session.
Since, it was her nap time after around 45 minutes , she was cranky and so the photographer suggested we come back again next month , when she is more playful so that we can capture her expressions with some fun play time.
This was definitely a great idea and it worked really well. We not only got some great family shots in the first session and also some amazing expressions in the second session , were captured.
The second session was done when she was close to completing her third month and I took her to the studio after her big nap.
I would highly recommend to get the infant shoot done between 1 to 6 months and if you could also talk to the photographer and do the session in two parts it would be rather fruitful.
Cost of Photo shoot- Is it worth it?
The average cost of the photo shoot from a reputed photographer would generally vary from 15000 to 25,000 INR.
I would recommend getting one shoot done of the newborn, and get good portraits made online as various photo printing websites are available.
Initially the thought of getting a photo shoot done never crossed my mind. I always considered it as a wasteful expenditure, something that parents with lot of free time and money would do. Why do we need a professional shoot in the age of great camera phones easily available in the market?
But then when my daughter was born, I wanted to see my old pictures wondering whom she resembled more. But sadly all the photos that we generally take with the new born focus on the other family members or the background. There weren't many pictures were my faetures or my expressions were captured. That's when I realised I would definitely do get a photo shoot done for my own daughter, so that when she becomes a mother, she can revisit the memory!!!
Family Shoot:
Luckily , one major advantage I had was that her great grand mother was in town around the same time. So we were able toke a picture with 4 generations in one frame. My grand mother, my father, my daughter and I.

The great grandmother, the grand father, the daughter and the great grand daughter in the center. So much legacy and history in one photo.
I would highly recommend to get as many family members together as possible and get the pictures taken. You may also think that it's too soon and she will get many opportunities as she grows up to bond and take pictures, but trust me there is no better time than now!!
Once they reach the toddler stage, you will be so busy in their daily schedule creating different memories each day, that capture them would seem impossible later on.
Pro Tips:
1) Make sure your infant is dressed in comfortable front open dress so that it will be easy to change for the shoot.
2) Avoid if the baby is feeling cranky and not up to it. You can schedule it some other day.
3) Prefer indoor shoots
4) carry baby bag with essentials only and her favorite rattle to get those cute cuddly expressions.
5) Discuss with your photographer in advance about the duration and charges and make sure you factor feeding and changing time as well.
And last but not the least, don't forget to smile and have some fun!!!!
