Sound sleep schedule for baby and MAMA!!

Dear All, Welcome again. "People who say they sleep like a baby usually don't have one" I am sure most of you will agree with the above quote. Truly, motherhood is exhausting, and sleepless nights becomes part of our daily routine.  In this blog, I would like to share my experience on sleep training. My daughter is 4.5 months old, and she sleeps from 7pm till 6am (of course with dream feeds usually 2 to 3 times), but yes, as impossible as it may sound, it is definitely achievable. In the first 3 months, I would religiously follow the mantra "sleep when the baby sleeps". She would sleep at night for a stretch of  about 5 hours, and day time 3-4 naps of 2 to 3 hours.Accomplishing fixed hours of nap time and night time routine in the first three months, never happened with me. She would automatically change her routine every three days. Soon I realized that she was too young and scheduling seems impossible and so, I started to let go of the schedule ...

Breastfeeding !! - My experience

Dear Friends, Hope you all are having a pleasant day. In this blog, I am going to share my experience on breastfeeding and also give some pro tips which I have learnt from my ancestors and followed in my journey. Most women believe that breastfeeding is a natural thing and it happens automatically as soon as the baby is born. Let me tell you something, breastfeeding is an acquired art. It reaches you to be patient, kind , gentle, focused and most importantly loving. You have already experienced sharing your womb , so a part of your body belonged to your little one, but once they are born, you have to share your breasts. This might not be as easy as it sounds. When my daughter tried to latch on me for the very first time, at the hospital, I grabbed the nurse's hand in pain. It felt a sharp pinch and my nipples were sore for the first fifteen days. Sharing your body every few hours is tiring, sometimes even dressing up becomes stressful, with the thought of feeding again. ...

Post partum Blues- It's definetly real!!

Dear Friends, Welcome to my blog, and hope you are having a great day!! Motherhood is fascinating, exciting, enjoyable and lovable, etc. is all I have heard from my friends and family , when I was expecting. No one ever prepares you for sleep deprivation, trauma, body image issues, self doubt and the tiresome feeling along with constant peer pressure that follows soon after delivery. My journey was a mix of  happy moments, some swollen eyes, leaky breasts, cute baby smiles, diaper woes, grandma underwear, glowing skin, emotional drama and lots and lots of food!! My angel entered my life, leaving a tiny scar below my stomach and filled my heart with overwhelming love. The feeling of acceptance was instant, but the life altering moment was yet to sink in!!. It takes around two to three months to get into the new routine, where everything revolves around the little one. After spending the first few sleep deprived nights, you will start to wonder if you will ever be able to ...

Shots please!!!

Hello friends, With all the excitement 😉 around the birth of your child , comes the daunting task of vaccination. The mother is always more anxious than the child, who is totally ignorant of what is going to happen at the doctor's appointment 😒. The first shot that my daughter received was a GCB Vaccine. I was in the waiting in the hospital lounge area with my heart 💓 beating faster than a Formula 1 race cars, considering the fact that it's my daughter's turn next, made my stomach churn. The minute we went inside, it was all pretty quick. The weight check , the length measurements and finally the shot. She cried for like 30 seconds and I soon as I started rocking her she was comfortable in my arms and fell asleep 😴. The doctor had advised me not to feed her for at least 30 to 45 minutes. In the end, it was not all that bad. The only thing my daughter demands is attention after each shot. So for a day or so she was clingy, which was adorable and cute and complete...

Airplane mode on!!!

Image
Hello Wonderful, Traveling in an airplane has always been very exciting. The view of the sky, view of the ground from above, the vast airport terminals, shopping spree, the coffee shops, etc. The "love you's" said at the airport are more sincere than we sometimes find at the weddings. The emotional goodbyes, the million dreams and anticipation of the next, the whole World around you seems surreal, if you are like me a total romantic. I was also delighted to find a live singing band at Hyderabad Airport!!! I didn't move until the final call for my flight was announced. Obviously, like most passengers on board I would pray to not be seated near a crying infant, or if lucky not have an infant at all during my entire flight. I had no idea "Karma" would land me in the similar situation very soon. We had decided to take a family vacation, when my daughter was 2.5 month old!! Not to be a spoil sport, I immediately agreed, since we were traveling in grou...
